New treatments for Epilepsy and Lupus

All people would like to stay fit and healthy, yet sometimes there are health issues which steal the moment.  Epilepsy is one of those conditions which can be unpredictable in nature. Anti-seizure medications are given to help control the onset of a seizure. But what if a person is having problems with the effectiveness of their anti-seizure medication?

Breakthrough medical technology has produced new treatments for epilepsy that look promising. Stem cell therapy studies have shown that implantation helps to reduce the amount and severity of seizures. Seizures occur when neurons in the brain signal incorrectly.  Stem cell therapy would aid in resetting the neurons back to normal.

Lupus is a disease more common amongst women between the ages of 15 to 44. It is an autoimmune disease where the immune system will attack the body’s healthy cells by mistake, often damaging other organs or parts of the body.

The treatment of lupus can be a varied. The symptoms and inflammation associated with lupus affect people in different ways, so treatments differ for each individual. The most common medicine is steroids to control inflammation. While many medications treat lupus, the side effects can be brutal. Stem cell therapy has shown remarkable progress in handling lupus. It diminishes long term damage to vital organs and may lower medication dosages for treating the illness.
